TOLLS > HAVEN'T PAID THE TOLL?

What will happen if you haven't paid the toll?

Payment of tolls is enforceable under the provisions of the Roads Act 1993 and under arrangements approved by the RTA. The M4 has an electronic enforcement system using camera surveillance to identify vehicles that proceed through the toll plazas without paying the toll.

If you find yourself on the motorway and are unable to pay the toll in cash or your electronic tag does not register the trip, you will need to pay for your trip in one of the following ways.

To pay in cash:

Send a cheque or money order payable to Statewide Roads within 7 days of the trip, together with details of your name, address, vehicle registration number and date, time and direction of your trip.

The total amount payable is the toll plus an administration fee.

For a Class A vehicle (car or motorcycle) the total amount payable is $7.70.
For a Class B vehicle (heavy vehicle) the total amount payable is $12.10.

Post your payment and details to:

Statewide Roads
Locked Bag 267,
Silverwater NSW 1811

To pay with your electronic tag:

To advise SWR of your electronic tag details in payment of the unpaid toll and any applicable administration fees please access the Unpaid travel on M4 registration form. Alternatively, contact SWR's Customer Service Centre and advise details of your name, vehicle registration number, date, time and direction of trip, as well as tag and account numbers. The toll due will be charged to your account.

If you were issued with a Deferred Toll Notice (DTN) in a CHANGE GIVEN or EXACT TOLL lane, settlement of the DTN can be made in cash or with your electronic tag as noted above. Please attach or reference the DTN number with all correspondence.

If payment is not received within seven (7) days of the trip, a Toll Notice will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle. The Notice will require payment of the toll and a $10 administration fee. It may be settled in cash or with your electronic tag in the manner specified on the notice.

Failure to pay the total amount due can result in the issue of a Penalty Notice from the NSW Infringement Processing Bureau with a fine exceeding $130 for each offence or prosecution.
