Q1: Who is Statewide Roads (SWR)?
SWR is the private company that operates and maintains sections of the M4 Motorway and the toll plaza, under a contract with the State Government of NSW which terminates in February 2010.
Q2: Why use the M4 tollroad? Studies show the M4 provides a faster trip than the alternative routes throughout its entire length. This is true even in peak periods. The M4 eliminates 40kms of intersections and 60 sets of traffic lights. Q3: Why is there a toll on the M4?
The M4 Motorway was constructed in part by SWR under the terms of a contract with the State Government of NSW. The toll enables SWR to recover the costs of constructing, maintaining and operating the motorway on a commercial basis. The Roads Act, 1993 and its related regulations are the legislative basis for the toll.
Q4: Can bicycles use the M4? Cyclists can use the shoulders of the M4, except on the section of motorway between Silverwater Road, Auburn and Church Street, Parramatta.
Designated cycleways are available to cyclists adjacent to the M4 route. These are detailed on the maps.
Q5: What is Cashback? The Cashback scheme is an initiative of the State Government of NSW. Under Cashback, motorists driving privately registered vehicles on the M4 and M5 motorways may obtain reimbursement of tolls (less GST) from the State Government of NSW.
For more information on Cashback call the RTA on 1300 133 310 or visit the RTA M4/M5 Cashback Scheme website.
Q6: How do I join Cashback? To get the benefit of the Cashback scheme, establish a pre-paid E-way Account with Interlink Roads Pty Limited, making sure that you tick the Yes box in response to the Cashback question. Phone 1300 555 833 for details or visit www.tollpay.com.au
A Cashback claim form, self addressed envelope and set of instructions is posted to you along with your quarterly E-way account statement. Simply complete the form and return it to the RTA for your refund.
