CUSTOMER SERVICE > TRAVELLED ON M4 WITHOUT PAYING TOLL? > ELECTRONIC TAG

Dedicated non-stop express lanes are marked with the logo and are to be used by electronic tag holders only. The tag must be mounted on the vehicle windscreen using the method advised by the tag issuer.

If the tag does not emit the expected sound, a problem may be indicated. (For more information on expected sound issued by the tag, click here)

Firstly, call your electronic tag issuer to ensure your account is in order and has sufficient funds. Some of the most common issues which arise are:

  1. You may need to inform your electronic tag issuer of the new expiry date of your credit card when you receive your new card in the mail. If you do not do this your bank may decline the prepaid account charge when it falls due.
  2. If you pay your electronic tag account by direct debit, you may have authorised a prepayment amount that is insufficient to cover your monthly toll usage. You will need to call your account issuer to organise a larger prepayment amount per direct debit to cover your usage.
  3. Your credit card may have insufficient credit available, or your bank account may not have sufficient funds to cover the prepayment amount due.

If, for any of these reasons, the M4 toll cannot be charged to your account, you will need to rectify the account issue with your electronic tag issuer. To have the unpaid toll and any applicable administration fees charged to your account, you will then need to access the Unpaid travel on M4 registration form to advise SWR of the electronic tag details to be used for payment. Alternatively, call the M4 on 1300 880 099.

If the tag does not emit any sound when passing through the toll plaza, it may be faulty. You should immediately contact your tag issuer and use the above link to allocate the trip to your tag account.
